كرّم اليوم الاحد الواقع في ٨/ ٢/ ٢٠٢٦ المنتدى الثقافي الاسترالي العربي، الدكتورة نجمة خليل حبيب وهي الأكاديمية والكاتبة البارزة، كرست حياتها للعلم والتعليم وأسهمت من خلال عملها الأكاديمي في ترسيخ مكانة اللغة العربية في سدني ونقل جمالياتها وعمقها إلى اجيال متعاقبة من الطلبة والباحثين، وفي مجال الكتابة الإبداعية فقد قدمت أعمالًا ادبية رفيعة المستوى عبرت فيها بصدق ووعي عن قضايا الإنسان والهوية والذاكرة والانتماء.

معًا رفعنا من القلب كلمة شكر وامتنان لهذه الامرأة العظيمة، ولقد أمّ الاحتفال عددًا من الأصدقاء والمهتمين بالأمر الثقافي ومن أسرة المحتفى بها الاكارم، ولقد كان احتفالًا ثقافياً بامتياز، توالت فيه الكلمات والقصائد في وصف مناقبية الدكتورة حبيب ومدى أهميتها في حياكة النسيج الثقافي العربي في بلاد المهجر والبلاد العربية.

سيرة ذاتية مختصرة للدكتورة نجمة خليل حبيب

كاتبة فلسطينية حائزة على دكتوراه فلسفة من جامعة سدني في أستراليا، عملت محاضرة فيها من عام 2003 حتى 2022. 

تكتب البحث الأكاديمي، المقالة النقدية، القصة القصيرة والرواية. لها مساهمات عديدة في الصحف العربية الصادرة في الاوطان الأم وفي بلاد المهجر. حائزة على العديد من الجوائز، منها:

-جائزة المجلس الأعلى للفنون في أستراليا -جائزة جبران خليل جبران العالمية التقديرية الثقافية. -جائزة المجلس الثقافي الأسترالي العربي للإبداع الأدبي. جائزة فلسطين للإبداع.
كرمها كل من:

سفير فلسطين في استراليا. السناتور شوكت مسلماني عضو البرلمان الأسترالي في نيو ساوث ويلز. منتدى الأكاديميين العراقيين في أستراليا. ديوان العرب- منبر حر للثقافة والأدب. الاتحاد العام لعمال فلسطين. 

تعمل حالياً المستشارة الثقافية للمنتدى الثقافي الأسترالي العربي، وعضو لجنة تحكيم في مسابقاته الأدبية ومؤتمراته الدولية، وهي عضو استشاري في مجلة ديوان العرب، وعضو لجنة تحكيم في جميع مسابقاته الأدبية.

ظهر لها حتى حينه: ربيع لم يزهر، جدتي تفقد الحلم وقصص أخرى، قراءات نقدية في الشعر والرواية، رؤى النفي والعودة في الرواية العربية الفلسطينية، من أستراليا وجوه أدبية معاصرة، “. . . والابناء يضرسون”، النموذج الإنساني في أدب غسان كنفاني.

Honouring Dr Najma Khalil Habib

On Sunday, 8 February 2026, the Australian Arab Cultural Forum honoured Dr Najma Khalil Habib, a distinguished academic and writer who has dedicated her life to knowledge and education. Through her academic work, she has contributed significantly to strengthening the position of the Arabic language in Sydney and conveying its beauty and depth to successive generations of students and researchers.

In the field of creative writing, she has produced high-level literary works that thoughtfully and authentically address issues of humanity, identity, memory, and belonging.

Together, we expressed our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to this remarkable woman. The celebration was attended by friends, cultural figures, and members of her esteemed family. It was truly a distinguished cultural event, featuring speeches and poetry that highlighted Dr Habib’s virtues and her important role in weaving the fabric of Arab cultural life both in the diaspora and in Arab countries.

Brief Biography of Dr Najma Khalil Habib

Dr Najma Khalil Habib is a Palestinian writer who holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia, where she worked as a lecturer from 2003 to 2022.

She writes academic research, critical essays, short stories, and novels. She has contributed extensively to Arabic newspapers both in the Arab world and in the diaspora. She has received numerous awards, including:

• The Australia Council for the Arts Award

• The International Gibran Khalil Gibran Cultural Appreciation Award

• The Australian Arab Cultural Council Award for Literary Creativity

• The Palestine Award for Creativity

She has been honoured by:

• The Ambassador of Palestine to Australia

• Senator Shaoquett Moselmane, Member of the NSW Parliament

• The Iraqi Academics Forum in Australia

• Diwan Al-Arab – A Free Platform for Culture and Literature

• The General Union of Palestinian Workers

She currently serves as Cultural Advisor to the Australian Arab Cultural Forum and as a jury member in its literary competitions and international conferences. She is also an advisory member of Diwan Al-Arab magazine and a judge in its literary competitions.
