On Sunday, 13 September 2026, the Australian Arab Cultural Forum held the final art workshop and closing celebration of the Festival Painting Program, marking the conclusion of a remarkable creative journey delivered over 15 months, from 13 June 2025 to 30 September 2026.

Throughout the program, numerous painting and art workshops were delivered to approximately 150 participants from a wide range of age groups—from children aged eight to older adults aged 80. Together, the participants created approximately 200 artworks, using colours and different artistic styles to express their ideas, feelings, personal experiences and cultural identities.
The closing day was a joyful celebration of creativity, connection and achievement. Participants gathered for one final painting workshop, shared their experiences and reflected on the wonderful memories they had created throughout the program. The event was filled with happiness, friendship and harmony and concluded with the cutting and sharing of a celebration cake.
The painting workshops were much more than recreational art activities. They provided a welcoming, safe and supportive space where participants, particularly children and young people, could express themselves freely, reduce stress and experience a sense of calm and emotional wellbeing. The activities also helped participants develop their confidence, creativity and artistic skills while building positive relationships with people from different ages, cultures and social backgrounds.
The program demonstrated the important role of art as a universal language that brings people together, encourages mutual understanding and creates a strong sense of belonging. It fostered social connection, cooperation and community harmony while allowing both younger and older participants to learn from one another in a respectful and enjoyable environment.
The Australian Arab Cultural Forum extends its sincere appreciation to STARTTS for its valuable support and cooperation and to the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs for funding this important community arts initiative. We also warmly thank all the artists, organisers, volunteers and participants whose enthusiasm and commitment made the program a success and created 15 memorable months of art, joy, friendship and meaningful community connection.
